March 31st

I cannot believe this is March 31st in Ontario. Tom and I went for a walk in the Arboretum today. We had to take our coats off, because it was so warm. We have walked here over the last few winters, and this is first time it has been in flower.

The forsythia was brilliant yellow, with the native Cornelian Cherry Dogwood a close second.

Normally, we are lucky to have Crocuses out by now, and occasionally still have snow, so this was a delight. The Arboretum is on the border of Hamilton and Burlington, and is part of the Royal Botanical Gardens (RBG). During the winter, the other gardens are closed off, but this part is always open during daylight hours. It is connected to the Bruce Trail, so you can walk for miles.

Other surprises today, were the cherry trees,

And the Magnolia.

We came home tired and happy. We made a big pasta dinner and enjoyed it with a glass of wine. What a lovely day! Hope yours was good too.
