Happy Camping

After driving for almost four hours, we dropped Becky off at camp on Sunday. It’s just south of Smith Falls near the Rideau Canal. It’s a beautiful place with water on three sides.

Becky will have the chance to go sailing, kayaking, camping, and swimming, of course.

There is always the option of floating around the lake on the specially designed pontoon boat. In fact, everything there is modified for use by people in wheelchairs. There is nothing that Becky can’t do while she’s there. There are lots of things she chooses not to do, which usually include snakes or darkness. Her favourite activity is tipping other people out of boats. She has lost a pair of glasses and a cowboy hat in her past endeavors to soak others. I think they are wise to her this time.

As you can see, she’s a pretty happy camper.

Just read all of your blog and loved it – have been providing 24/7 care for my father for almost 2 1/2 years. I can so relate to your story, although you do a far better job of staying sane than I. Enjoy your well earned break and keep us posted on the drive for independence.

Thanks for your comment, Sarah, and for taking the time to read all the posts. I find that doing frivolous things, silly things, that make me laugh, are a definite help in keeping the sanity train on the rails. I wish you only good things, and hope you are finding some support.
